Robert Taylor LA Ranch Sells at Auction!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleThe auction is over and this iconic ranch has passed into the hands of the fortunate new owner from Chicago who won over 11 other bidders.
The ranch was built in 1956 for Waite Phillips (Phillips Petroleum) and saw other owners over the years. Actor Robert Taylor, Barbara Stanwyck's spouse and star of Quo Vadis, Billy the Kid & The Detectives, once owned the property and his name has stayed with it over the years. Aside from its star power and built-in cowboy ambiance, the super value comes with having 112 acres just minutes from LA.
At 11,700 square feet of living space in the main house alone, there is a plethora of room for entertaining family, friends and business associates. There are 12 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, bar and casino, a large recreational-office complex, a 3,100 square foot guest studio, and a 10-car garage. Though the stables were remodeled into offices and apartments in the 1980s, for horse lovers there are still some stables along with the riding arena and private trails that expand into the Will Rogers State Park. Family and guests not interested in spending time in the saddle will be equally pleased spending a day poolside, working out at the gym or playing a rousing game of tennis. The total compound consists of 70 rooms.
Laid back, historical and teeming in rustic luxury, the ranch was previously listed at $65 million, reduced to $28 million then to $18.9 million before going to auction and selling to the high bidder at $12 million.
