Wright Under $200k!
One has to wonder how this amazing architect could see so well into the future. This original Prairie Style home's building permit was signed by the man himself in . . . 1916! To look at the house, and even the vintage Danish designed Poggenpohl kitchen, you would think it was built yesterday, except of course, for the quality of the millwork and the spacious rooms! To think of this historical, beautiful and very livable house selling for only $199,900 is no less than the deal of the Century.
What we find so fascinating is that this house is one of the American System Built Homes that was a project to build affordable, well-designed houses for the masses. There were 7 models for these homes from which customers could choose. This home is one of the first six model homes and the section of six homes is now on the Historic Register. The homes were different but the materials standardized so they could be packaged and sent to the site. Since the buyer purchased a completed home, skilled craftsmen were sent to construct it from the precision cut and finished wood. Everything needed to finish the home was in the package. Some people yet erroneously refer to these homes as prefab. Since no part of the structure was pre-constructed inside a factory, the term doesn't apply. This project ended with the advent of WWI as materials were needed for the war effort. This was the largest single project in Wright's files.
With its oak floors, timeless design, outstanding quality and breathtaking stained glass, there is no doubt that everyone who sees it will stand in awe. Original Prairie Style with building permit signed by Wright in 1916! Milwaukee Frank Lloyd Wright home for sale at $199,900.
