The Razor Auction!
The Razor Auction!
One of the most artful pieces of architecture in the world today is going up for auction on September 28th . . The Razor! The miraculous 11,000 square-foot home is hollowed out from the cliffs over La Jolla's Black's Beach . . a beach with a story. It boasts floor-to-ceiling glass, polished concrete surfaces and overwhelming Pacific views made even more awe inspiring at sunset. The house even appears to change form with the colors of the sky and time of day.
According to its designer, Wallace Cunningham, "It's my masterpiece."
The four-bedroom, six-bath structure houses a glass elevator, theater and a two-story guesthouse. The drama of the infinity pool gives one the feeling of dropping off into the ocean below. The house has been featured in commercials for Calvin Klein and Visa's Black Card and Aston Martin. It has also been showcased in "Architectural Digest."
The property has private access to the sands of Black's Beach, the first and only public nude beach in the country for a few years in the 1970's. Today, however, the nude portion of the beach has been delegated a small secluded area away from the public. The beach is long with sand reaching back to the cliffs. A few outcroppings of rock lend interest to the wild feel of the oceanfront landscape that is beloved by surfers and sun worshipers alike.
This is the home for lovers of art and nature. Exquisite from every possible angle and a photographer's dream realized, it's easy to understand why it is so often used in upscale photo shoots. Some lucky bidder can now make it theirs and at a once in a lifetime value. Be there or send your rep on September 28th with cash!
Construction cost was $34m - minimum bid is $16m.
