The beach house was designed by architect Edward Durell Stone, who is well known for his work on Radio City Music Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Museum of Modern Art and the General Motors Building in New York City. The property was originally part of the Gilbert Colgate Estate (as in Colgate-Palmolive).
