First opened in 1936 in Glendale, California as Bob’s Pantry, millennials are probably not aware that the Big Boy drive-in restaurants set the stage for McDonalds, Burger King and hundreds of smaller imitators. Founded by Bob Wian, many remember the iconic Big Boy sign towering above each restaurant in his red and white checkered overalls holding a hamburger. Wian’s Palm Springs home is for sale at $1.95 million. Built in 1958, the mid-century-modern home measures in at 3,076 square feet on one-third acre with three bedrooms and two baths plus three separate casitas with baths and private entrances. Grounds also include a pool, spa, putting green, patio and barbecue area and a large outdoor chess set. It is now for sale at $1.95 million.
