Top 10 Celebrity Home Sales In 2024
The #1 celebrity home deal in 2024 was Ellen DeGeneres’ sale of a mansion in Santa Barbara, California for $96 million. Other big 2024 sales included David and Victoria Beckham’s purchase of a $72 million Miami Beach home, and a Steve Wynn home he sold in Nevada for $63 million.
Slowest Year For US Home Sales Since 1995
Even though US home sales picked up in late 2024, total sales for the year will be the lowest since 1995. Total US home sales came in at about 4.6 million in 2024.
Best US States For Families
According to a new report from WalletHub, the best state to raise a family is Massachusetts, followed by Minnesota and North Dakota. Rankings were based on 50 key factors, including median annual family income, housing affordability, health care quality, crime rate, and school quality. The worst states are West Virginia, Mississippi and New Mexico.
Breaking Bad Home Lists At $4 Million
The Albuquerque, New Mexico home that was used as the TV home of Walter White in the Netflix series Breaking Bad is for sale. Listed at $3.995 million, the 1,910-square-foot home is being marketed as an Airbnb or a collector’s home.
Snowy Buffalo Ranked Hottest Home Market
For the second year in a row, Zillow has selected Buffalo, New York as the hottest housing market in the US. Zillow makes their selections based on homes availability, pricing and demand. Indianapolis is ranked #2, and Providence, Rhode Island is #3. Buffalo received over 70 inches of snow in 2024.
Homeowners Who Will Never Sell
According to Redfin, 34% of homeowners say they will never consider selling, and 27% more say they won’t consider selling for at least 10 years. Of the never-sell group, most say it’s because their home is almost or completely paid off. Only about 25 of every 1,000 US homes changed ownership in the first eight months of 2024, the lowest turnover rate in decades.

The buyer of retired NBA star Michael Jordan’s 56,000-square-foot Chicagoland mansion is John Cooper, a longtime Jordan fan and real estate investor. On the market for over 12 years, the nine-bedroom home on eight acres is loaded with amenities, including an indoor regulation-sized basketball court. The home was originally listed at $29 million, before a long series of price cuts until Cooper picked it up for about $9.5 million.
Jim Carrey Sells Magical Sanctuary
The LA home that Jim Carrey called his “magical sanctuary” has sold after almost two years on the market. The home has five bedrooms, six full baths, a home theater, and even an art gallery space where Jim displayed his own impressive creations. The home was most recently listed at $19.75 million.
