Madoff bought the Montauk home in 1980 but lost it in 2009 when the U.S. bankruptcy court seized it. In addition to the 3,000-square-foot home and 180 feet of beachfront, much of the home’s value is due to its location on the sand which is no longer permitted for new construction. The new owners paid $9.4 million for the home in 2009, added a pool and renovated much of the home.
