Bats Invade Georgia Foreclosure!
Bats Invade Georgia Foreclosure!
You know how banks just hate foreclosures? Well, Chase never counted on this turn of events! Located in laid back Tifton, GA, where the azaleas bloom, magnolias grace the rolling lawns and the drawl almost needs translation, sits this lovely historic home . . with a problem. This house has squatters. No, we don't mean a few homeless folks became a little less homeless. We mean 20,000 bats!
Happily on the market with interested buyers, this charming home is located in Tifton's charming Historic District, of which the town is quite proud. Imagine the surprise of finding it already occupied! Needless to say, it was instantly ripped off the market until the current tenants are eradicated. This was extremely upsetting to many: the town, as it could not collect tax until it was sold; the real estate agent, who would be delayed in receiving their commission; the neighbors, terrified that the bats would relocate in their own homes, and Chase, having to foot an additional expense on a home on which they're probably going to take a beating anyway! So enter Tru Tech, exterminators extraordinaire. Their plan was to block all entrances and exits when the bats leave to feed at night. Only problem is that when they can't get back in, they must look for another home immediately or die. Since they can easily enter a home through a hole the size of a quarter, that probably leaves the majority of homeowners at risk . . . especially the neighbors! Since bats are protected during breeding season, for a couple of months they'll just have to suck it up and get busy repairing holes.
Now if you know anything about the country, you'll know that country boys have this game they call Batball, which is a lot more effective. At dusk, they toss a rock in the air and the unknowing bat dives down thinking it's a large insect. Home run! You figure out the rest! Having second thoughts about hanging that cute bat house out on the shed wall? Yeah, our skin gets a little crawly too!
