Teddy’s Place Sold to Gabon!
Teddy's Place Sold to Gabon!
The Republic of Gabon? Really! And all this time we expected this beautiful southern style home, steeped in American tradition, to be inhabited by a family that understood and appreciated the unusual grace of the architectural details and would make it their forever family home. This was to be the home where at least 4 children would grow up, attend the best schools, bring their college friends home for holidays and later their children who would always feel a strong sense of place and continuity. But no, it didn't work out that way and now it's future will likely be handed from one overseas embassy to another with none of them ever really appreciating anything more about the home other than the fact that it's in Washington in a prime location near Embassy Row and expensive enough to make an impression.
Having won its independence from France in 1960, République Gabonaise experienced a tumultuous beginning that leveled out under the guidance of President Ali Bongo Ondimba, and has taken an active part in calming tempers in politically stress torn neighboring African countries.
We wish Gabon's Ambassador the best and after all, a collection of territorial masks might look great in that great den with the secret door! Selling price? $6.5m, down from the last price cut of $6,995,000.
