Frank Lloyd Wright’s U-Home!
Frank Lloyd Wright's U-Home!
A work of art from every direction, from every view, this must be one of his best! The house was designed in 1955 while Mr. Wright was working on the Guggenheim Museum, and was built in 1961 after being commissioned by Randall and Harriet Fawcett. Positioned on 80 acres in the great Central Valley of California, the design is timeless. Though accurately described as Mid-Century Modern, with its clean, sweeping lines blending into an equally simple, elegant landscape, it seems as though the house and land are one. This is a house where Mr. Wright also designed the pool for the house that was actually installed. We see many where the owner never completed that part, and here we have both the pool and a koi pond. A feeling of serenity prevails in the architectural lines, materials and Japanese rock arrangements and the interior walk-in fireplace and surround is pure, jaw-dropping art. Having also designed the furniture, his precision shows through in every element.
Inside its 3,800 square feet we find six bedrooms, 4.5 baths, the spectacular fireplace and every room opens to the garden through 15 pairs of French doors onto a wide veranda. Within the compound is also a studio with bath and wine cellar and many serene outdoor seating areas where one can overlook the landscape, koi pond and aviary. Speaking of the aviary, is that a Komodo Dragon we see inside? What's your take?
There are fewer than 300 Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the world. When one becomes available, we get excited! Architectural history for sale at $1,999,999.
