Pro Wrestling Reality House!
Pro Wrestling Reality House!
In case you get bored with the big egos, screaming, hair pulling, twists and turns, dirty tricks and name calling of the 2012 Republican presidential campaign, there is some similar entertainment coming to your television soon. Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper, the Iron Sheik and former WWE wrestlers are doing a reality TV show at the former home of Harpo Marx. Looks like a casting musical chairs. First they are and then they aren't. But the show started filming the beginning of February and will run through the end of March, so maybe they just want to surprise us! For the relatively new owners of the property, judging by the published rental rates, they'll be making in the neighborhood of $100k for the two-month lease, but we'll never know what the final negotiated price was. We can't help wondering if for them it was a deal or no deal. Hopefully these ego propelled hunks of muscle will only bruise each other if they get into a squabble, and not the house!
Harpo Marx commissioned Wallace Neff to design "El Rancho Harpo" in 1956. Neff had designed a number of stars' desert compounds, such as Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Harpo's brother, Groucho Marx. The gated, 2.1 acre estate was designed for open air living with walls of glass opening out to landscaped grounds, a tropical lagoon, secluded casitas, a huge outdoor kitchen, pool and spa area, tennis courts and even a 3-hole putting green. The house itself is large and spacious with 8 bedrooms (8 wrestlers), and 10 baths.
We understand that though the 8 hulking superstars will be residing there, they'll also be dining and carousing throughout the Coachella Valley. Frankly, we'll get a kick out of their hot air balloon ride. Even with this beautiful estate as a backdrop, we doubt it will be inspiration enough for these testosterone-driven competitors to tiptoe through the begonias!
