And Away It Goes!
And Away It Goes!
Jackie Gleason's auction is over! You lost! They won . . and for only $517k - $300k under the county assessment! Not bad! Forgetting the value of the land and its location, we can't imagine being able to build that much house for that price! Especially considering south Florida contractors and the dramatic increase in the cost of building materials since hurricane Andrew! This was a good deal.
Of course, much will have to be put into landscaping and interior updating, but with so much space, every cent will be well worth it. Back in the day It was the epitome of mid-century Florida style and was cutting edge glamour at the time with its 9,250sf sprawling across almost an acre on three golf course lots at the Country Club of Miami. The house has 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and a screened pool deck. In typical Florida style both then and now, large expanses of glass bring the outdoors in. It's fun to imagine how the new owner will use the guest party house to wow their friends!
This is the house Jackie lived in until he died in 1987. After his death it was sold to a couple who put it in trust until they decided it was finally time to sell. Assessed at over $800k - sold for $517k!
