Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleWatching the shy guy in the Papa John’s TV commercials over recent years, maybe it was just his down-home-boy-made-good look that made us picture John Schnatter as an unassuming, low key average fella. He was the kind of young man Americans felt good about and we were happy and comfortable with his success from taking something already popular and making it better. After all, isn’t that what America is all about?
Oops! Then something went wrong He opened his mouth in the wrong direction (according to many) - after a visit with Romney - and ended up under the public microscope. After blurting out that Papa John’s will now have to raise the price of pizza 14 cents solely due to Obamacare, it occurs to us that maybe we really never knew John in the first place.
We all have to live somewhere, but aside from his next door neighbors, is anyone not stunned at the size and scope of his 40,000 square foot Kentucky castle? Sprawled across 16 manicured acres, it has a private golf course, immaculately maintained ponds, a 6,000 square foot detached carriage house, a swimming pool randomly shaped like the home’s large pond and, get this . . a 22-car underground garage with limousine turntable, car wash and valet office. John has come a long way from his father's co-owned tavern in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and about equally as far away from the life realities of the $6.41/hour that he pays his pizza delivery people.
Papa John's CEO John Schnatter has recently come under attack for his remarks that they will have to raise the price of pizza 11 to 14 cents because of Obamacare. He lives in a 40,000 square foot home.
