Disney Designer Digs!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleRobert F. McDonnell was the longtime senior designer for Walt Disney Co., leaving his creative stamp on many Disney theme park Main Streets and the train station in Disneyland Japan. When one spends his career designing fantasy buildings, it would be impossible not to daydream about what it would be like to actually live in one, so McDonnell set about creating this special labor of love for his own family. The basic structure was built in 1937 in the prestigious Los Angeles suburb of La Canada Flintridge. In 1971 McDonnell bought it and started turning it into the mythical fairyland castle it is today.
The current owner says that when he bought it, it took him six months to discover all the details while he wandered the property in awe. His son, now the listing agent, grew up in this castle and points out the spires, doors and leaded glass windows that can be seen today in Disneyland. Imagine a home that makes you smile every time you return and one that is the envy of all your friends!
Gated and fenced on a quarter acre of lush landscaping, the castle home consists of 3,730 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. The name Graystone Manor comes from the gray stone on the first level that was imported from Europe. Wrought iron found throughout the house was imported from England.
Originally priced at $1,599,999, it has recently been reduced to $1,449,999 or best offer and has a sale currently pending. For those who can’t resist this much magic, it never hurts to be next in line on the waiting list!
