Sales came in at 408,000 in May, which was the lowest monthly total other than May 2020 in the early days of the pandemic and in October 2023 when mortgage rates shot up to their highest rates since the early 2000s. Despite the low number of homes sold, prices reached record levels of almost $440,000.
