White House Replica Sells Before Election
Just days before the presidential election, a White House replica in Hillsborough, California sold for $23 million. Known as the Western White House, the 11-bedroom 24,400-square-foot home near San Francisco was transformed into a White House lookalike in the 1930s by a member of the wealthy Hearst family. The real White House has 132 rooms and 55,000 square feet.

America’s Best Small Towns
Just like John Mellencamp’s hit song “Small Town,” where he grew up and lives, Indiana is a state with some of the best small towns in America. In order to rate the country’s best small towns, WalletHub compared more than 1,300 US cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 45 key indicators of livability, including cost-of-living, schools, health, and safety. According to their findings, the best small town in America is Carmel, Indiana, located just north of Indianapolis. Fishers, Indiana and Westfield, Indiana, two towns also near Indianapolis, are also ranked in the top ten.

Who Put Trump & Harris Signs In Their Frontyards
According to a survey of 1,000 American homeowners, about one-third displayed a political sign in their yards this year. It seems that more Democrats (41.6%) than Republicans (36.4%) were likely to put up a sign.

Do Hurricanes Kill Real Estate Sales
According to the Florida Realtors Association’s chief economist, hurricanes do not have much of an affect on real estate sales, causing only a temporary lull in sales. Within a couple of months after a hurricane, Florida condo and home sales rebound to the same number of sales as before the storm.

US Home Prices Are Mostly Up
US home prices are a mixed bag, holding steady in parts of the country while going up or down in other areas. According to Redfin, home prices are still going up in much of the US, including Birmingham, Alabama; Tampa, Florida and Richmond, Virginia. The median US home sale price is up 3.9% in the past year to $427,989.

LA Home Designed By Frank Lloyd Wright Grandson
The Ross House in Los Angeles was designed by Eric Lloyd Wright, the grandson of the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. Located in LA’s popular Silver Lake neighborhood, the mid-century-modern home has architectural details reminiscent of Eric’s famous grandfather, including geometric skylights, large picture windows and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors to accentuate the views of the lake. The home recently sold for $2.66 million.

High & Low US Property Tax States
New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire and Massachusetts have the highest property tax rates in the US, while West Virginia has the lowest at an average of $694 per year. New Jersey’s average annual property tax bill is almost $8,500.

The Tallest Condo Building South of New York
After almost 10 years of development, the Aston Martin Residences in Miami have finished construction. Located in a neighborhood of luxury Miami condos, residences have views of the Miami River and Biscayne Bay. The 66-story building with 391 condominiums is the tallest all-residential building south of New York City.

New Yorkers Who Left the State
More than 480,000 New Yorkers left the state in 2023, and about 71,000 of them went from the Empire State to Florida. New York has the fastest rate of residents leaving any US state, followed by New Jersey, Illinois, Alaska and Louisiana.

America’s Top 10 Popular Home-Buying Markets
According to a Realtor.com formula, Columbus, Ohio is America’s most popular city for home buyers. With its low cost of living, diverse economy, low unemployment and major institutions such as Ohio State, Columbus gets the most online traffic and views for smaller metro areas. Knoxville and Louisville rank #2 and #3.
