Located about 50 miles from Yankee Stadium, Tiedemann Castle was built in the early 1900s on Greenwood Lake on the border of New York and New Jersey by a New York doctor, Rudolph Gudewill. After Gudewill died, Derek’s grandparents, John and Julia Tiedemann, bought the castle. Derek spent many of his childhood summers at the home and eventually purchased it in 1992.
