Before K-Mart, it was Kresge – a five-and-dime store chain founded by S.S. Kresge in 1897 that grew to over 600 U.S. stores by the 1950s. The 20,000-square-foot Kresge Mansion in Detroit’s Boston-Edison neighborhood has been restored and is for sale at $3.25 million.
