A haunted New York mansion is going to auction at midnight on Halloween night. Known locally as “The Castle,” the 7,000-square-foot home was built in 1871 in Auburn, New York for Samuel Laurie; it overlooked the local wool mill that Laurie supervised. Unfortunately, tragedy soon struck the Laurie family with the death of Mrs. Laurie and three of their children. Mr. Laurie later lost both his job and the home after an 1893 economic panic, and he died two years later. Since then, there have been multiple reports of ghosts and supernatural activities at the home and a team of professional ghost hunters confirmed the home is haunted. Long abandoned, the home has the classic appeal of a haunted home but still retains most of the home’s upscale features including a carriage house, stained-glass windows, multiple built-ins and four fireplaces.
