A new beach home on the Florida’s Mexico Beach breezed through Hurricane Michael with barely a scratch. Built in 2017 with poured concrete and reinforced with steel and rebar to withstand winds up to 250 miles per hour, the owners use it as a vacation home and rental. Current building codes in the Florida Panhandle require new construction to withstand winds of 120 to 150 miles per hour. South Florida requires about 175 miles per hour.
