Modernist architect and first female winner of the of the Pritzker
Architecture Prize, Zaha Hadid work is represented around the globe.
Her accomplishments are especially significant as we enter into March,
Women History Month. Hadid, of Iraqi-British citizenship, came from an
intellectual and creative family whose father was a wealthy Iraqi
industrialist, her mother an artist and brother a writer. She was
educated in both English and Swiss boarding schools and seemed to come
away with a combination of all her family talents. Hadid died in 2016
from a heart attack at age 65 in the middle of a number of ongoing
projects.

Having designed award winning buildings in almost all the major cities in
the world, when it came to owning a residence where she could decompress
from her hectic schedule, she chose a glass walled condo with wrap-around
balconies in one of Miami Beach most coveted buildings, W South Beach.
Facing east and south, and located on 300 feet of pristine beachfront,
views of the Atlantic Ocean are stunning, yet calming. The
2,299-square-foot residence has a sweeping open floor plan optimized for
entertaining and contains three bedrooms, four baths and a completely
separate one-bedroom guest apartment. A study in contemporary elegance
which would be expected of such talent, the apartment was originally
priced at $10 million and has been reduced to $6.5 million. Furnishings
will be sold separately.
