Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIt’s another fad like the one where college kids several generations back used to try and see how many students they could cram into one telephone booth or into a VW Beetle. At least that was free and they were kids. But paying money for the equivalent privilege seems to turn fun into insanity. Now a developer is hyping those with more money than brains into "investing" in a closet where they’ve added a kitchenette and added a shower above the toilet in a sub-closet. Since it’s next door to Harrods, maybe one could use it when they go into town on a shopping spree. You know, . . shop till you drop; come up to the cubby; stow your packages; take a bathroom break; fix a cup of tea; sit on your packages while you drink it and then, when rested and revived, . . hit it again. Harrods, that is.
The current fad for postage stamp sized dwellings has not gone unnoticed by other developers who gain big bucks from abusing those with brains the size to match. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg isn’t far behind. He’s planning a building with "micro apartments" of 300 square feet that won’t even pass zoning. But what does it matter about the zoning intended to preserve the health and well being of humans? He’s mayor after all, and as he says, will just change the zoning to fit his wishes, and hey, if there’s a buck to be made . . .
Currently the high bid on the outfitted 40 square foot London closet is at $280,000, but the developer thinks it may go to $500,000. The highest bidder at the moment is Greek. We knew things were bad in Greece, but this may be the first real indication of how bad! So far there have been over 100 lookers and they say, . . 12 bidders.
Jimmy Buffett said it best in his lyrics in I Love the Now, "The whole damn world's gone crazy."
