Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleDallas, fondly referred to as the Big D by those who’ve lived or visited there, is the ninth most heavily populated city in the U.S with about 1.2 million people. That’s a lot of cowboys and cowgirls. But Dallas has come a long way from the time it was still considered the wild west, and now is home to sports teams in almost every category conceivable, along with having the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the country. A wealthy city, it is heavily supported in the arts and many of the city districts are populated with galleries, theatres, museums as well as peaceful parks such as the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Park. With 23 of Forbes richest Americans living in the Dallas area, it’s not surprising that these philanthropists have made sure the city is worthy of their presence.
Almost every day, stunning mansions and a few dozen normal homes switch hands in Dallas. From T. Boone Pickens charming estate, to Kelly Clarkson’s mini-ranch, to George and Laura Bush’s 8,000 square foot $3 million cul-de-sac home, to the everyday Texas homestead, Big D home prices escaped most of the real estate crash repercussions. As home to the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars, players are also always on the move and many of their homes are often trading owners.
An unusual home has recently been put back on the market by a philanthropic couple who as true Texans, have made their fortune in gas and oil. Though construction was completed in 2009, this unique house, a spectacular circle of glass, is an excellent example of mid-century modern architecture designed by Lionel Morrison. Even today, it is one of the most talked about houses in Dallas and is considered to be one of the most significant mid century modern homes in the city.
The home went on the market in early 2011 for $11.5 million; according to the owner, to test the market. It was then pulled and has once again been listed - this time for $9.995 million. Clean and crisp in design, the home is filled with light, highlighting the sleekness of the interior. On 1.7 acres, the 14,795 square foot home has seven bedrooms, nine baths, three living areas, exercise room, extra storage room, game room, library/study, media room and a huge swimming pool that follows the curvature of the house. Since music is a hobby of the husband, the downstairs basement is currently used as a music room with every instrument one can think of, you never know what country star might show up to jam out.
Dallas’ most talked about home - was $11.5 million, now $9.995 million.
