Chelsea Warehouse Conversion!
Chelsea Warehouse Conversion!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleThe 1910 Eagle Warehouse served its purpose well in the days when freight trains on the overhead railroad tracks delivered goods and bulk food products to the Chelsea neighborhood. But time moves on and progress happens. When its useful purpose had run out, instead of tearing the building down and starting over, it was converted to lofts - and when can a city have too many of those? Once inner city freight deliveries were taken over by truckers, even the old railway was repurposed into a garden walkway called the High Line, with views over the Hudson River and the city. The Eagle Warehouse conversion was so well designed that it even attracted such celebrities as Kate Winslet.
One of these popular lofts has become available. When the current owner bought the T-shaped loft, he called in the design firm 212box Architecture and stripped the loft down to the studs, exposing its huge oak timber beams and steel structural column. The design was formed around those with an open floor plan and three bedrooms and three full baths on the opposite sides of the loft for privacy. All high end materials were used throughout such as reclaimed oak for the floors and the installation of an Eggersmann kitchen that features custom cabinets, deep stainless steel sink, two full size Sub-Zero refrigerators side by side, Viking range, Miele dishwasher and stone counters.
