Colombian Coffee Farm!!
Colombian Coffee Farm!!
Just like most expansive thinkers, you've probably toyed with the idea of having an alternative property in another country, but so far nothing has exactly filled the bill. You don't want it to be too far away from stateside family and friends, but you want something to captivate your interest, be easy to care for and give your life the proverbial shot in the arm. What about a small, tropical mountainside coffee plantation in the Andes? Yes you can! Think about it. Only 8 acres of cultivated jungle with a live-on caretaker who not only maintains the property, but picks about 150 pounds of coffee every two weeks from your 2,800 coffee trees, packs it and takes it to market, bringing you about $660 a month. But that's not all. You also have bananas, avocado and citrus trees, probably a mango in there somewhere, along with armfuls of colorful anthurium, halconia, orchids and any other wonderful tropical flower you wish, for vases all over the house!
There is already a perfectly nice 2,000sf, 4 bedroom, 3 bath house on the property in addition to the caretaker's house. But we know how you probably are; you want to express yourself! So build whatever you like, but it should be wide open to the spectacular views of the Andes and the amazing tropical vegetation. This is where you'll live outdoors most of the time because it's just too breathtaking to waste time inside. Build a great outdoor kitchen and outdoor rooms covered in passion fruit vines where you can pluck a passion fruit to add to your fresh orange juice or gin any old time you feel like it.
Would it suprise you to know that Colombia is # 6 on the Happly Planet Index compared to the United States at # 114? Well, there it is! (We think it's in the passion fruit juice!) Of course if you absolutely must, Bogota is only an hour away with it's shopping malls, historic and art museums, restaurants and other attractions. But this coffee farm is in an area where many doctors and other professionals have their own getaways, so we doubt you'll ever be lacking a fun social life!
Tropical mountain paradise priced at $225k.
