Dr. Scholl’s Lake Home!
Dr. Scholl's Lake Home!
Who said this? "Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise!" That's right! Brilliant entrepreneur William Mathias Scholl, DPM! Born of German immigrants to Indiana in 1882, to earn extra cash, Scholl borrowed his grandfather's cobbler tools to fix shoes. At 18 he moved to Chicago to work for a shoe retailer where he noticed that customers complained of the same foot maladies. He then began taking night classes at the Illinois Medical School, graduating in 1904 as a podiatrist. After designing and gaining a patent for a mechanical arch support in 1904 called the Foot-Eazer, in 1906 he started his own company. A master of innovative marketing, William M. Scholl died in 1968 at the age of 86, with over 1000 patented foot care products to his name.
Some lucky family now has the opportunity to own Dr. Scholl's former beachfront home on Lake Michigan, only an hour from downtown Chicago! At 8,000sf and completely renovated, this fabulous home has 120' of private wide beach frontage with incredible water views. As the listing agent says, the lot alone is worth at least $800,000, of the $2.2m list price. That would bring the home itself down to approximately $127/sq ft for the mansion. Certainly sounds like a deal to us! Casa del Lago is a Spanish California-style home that was totally rebuilt under the direction of internationally known architect, Howard Holtzman. Public rooms are spacious, lending them perfect for entertaining, while you can wow your guests with beach and lake views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The home is graced with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a fitness center, guest quarters, wine cellar, chef's kitchen and a large beachside terrace. The second floor consists of a glamorous master suite with his-and-her marble and stone baths, dressing room, private study, sitting room and roof deck looking over the lake.
Where else could one find such value for so much beauty and be inspired daily by remembering one of America's great entrepreneurs? Foot Doctor's Lake Michigan home reduced. Casa del Lago was $2,780,000 - now $2,195,000.
