Frank Lloyd Wright’s 1150sf Design Home!
Frank Lloyd Wright's 1150sf Design Home!
Somehow it's hard to believe that anyone fortunate enough to own a F. L. Wright home would ever consider selling it, but here's one in another lovely location overlooking Puget Sound. We love that the original owners first picked the perfect lot at water's edge and then engaged Mr. Wright to design their home. During the build, they took wonderful pictures of the process (proving that back in the early 50's construction workers wore their pants at their waist, held up by a belt!). Interestingly, the Tracys had admired Mr. Wright's 1920's industrial use of the open block Usonion Automatic style and requested it be adapted for their residential purpose. Thoroughly appreciating the work of this great man, the Tracys kept every detail of the plans, correspondence and photographs to preserve the entire process for future owners and historians. This amazing couple had a steel forms made and casted 2 sets of blocks a day until they reached 1,700!
You may never see another location with a home that fits so perfectly into the environment. As he would, Mr. Wright designed to afford the best views of the Sound and the snowcapped Olympic Mountains beyond, always making sure not to disturb the mature trees and evergreens while positioning the house to afford the utmost privacy. The house is approximately 1,150sf with three bedrooms and one bath. The living, dining and kitchen face the views, plus there is a utility room and laundry as well as a detached 2 car carport. Since the home is located in Normandy Park, the buyer will have automatic membership in the beach club with club house, swimming pool and tennis courts. Charming perk!
Maybe what we love most is imagining how it was when, in the evening with the sun setting across the water, music fitting the scenery would be played while the Tracys read out loud to each other. And we wonder: Did the ambiance here create such bliss? Let us know. For sale at $1,159,000.
