Elvis’ fantabulous Hollywood house has sold. So who is this buyer that now owns a major part of Elvis history? Hard Rock Cafe co-founder Peter Morton. But according to Real Estalker, he may tear it down! Yes, we feel the pain.
Morton can afford to be a little outrageous in his dealings these days. He sold his share of the Hard Rock Cafes in 1995 for $410 million, then sold his Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Las Vegas in 2006 for $770 million. It’s hard to imagine what he could build on Elvis’ lot that would be lovelier than the existing home, so we’ll be holding our collective breath to see his future creation. In recent years, Morton has been very successful flipping real estate.
This is the home that Elvis and Priscilla bought for $400,000 when they were first married in 1967, the place where Elvis continued to live after their divorce in 1972, and where Lisa Marie lived for some of her early years. Subsequent owners renovated the home to take advantage of its location with stunning views over Los Angeles. Walls were torn out and replaced with glass and all updates were elegantly designed into the house to assure the most comfortable living and memorable entertaining possible. Today the 5,367 square foot 4 bedroom, 5 bath home is sophisticated to the hilt with the perfection beginning at the stunning gated entrance.
The Real Estalker reports that Morton purchased home for $9,800,000, paying $3.2 million under the asking price. Elvis & Priscilla bought the Trousdale Estates house in 1967 for $400,000.
