Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For Sale

The nostalgia for anyone old enough to have experienced travel from the East Coast to California during the 1950s, adventures along Route 66 is a sweet memory. It was the main travel route across the country since the 1925 Highway Act which would provide vehicular travel from Chicago to Los Angeles. Later it would run from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Santa Monica, California. During the farm workers’ migration from Great Plains prairie farms decimated by the Dust Bowl seeking agricultural employment in the West, John Steinbeck referred to it as The Mother Road. It was also the best route for cross-country truckers and military equipment relocation during World War II. By the 1950s, it became one of the most popular tourist highways in the country with tumbleweeds blowing across the road, jack rabbits entertaining children from the car windows, quaint motels, mom & pop restaurants and roadside attractions such as reptile farms and Indian curio shops. For anyone interested in owning a part of this historic past, an original Marathon Oil Service station is going to auction in Oklahoma. This circa 1929 original Neoclassical building is on the National Register of Historic Places and was restored in 2008. Still with the original fuel pumps, the 320-square-foot building has most recently been utilized as retail space on its .06 acre corner lot. The no-reserve auction date is April 8th.
