L.A.’s Playboy Bunny House!
L.A.'s Playboy Bunny House!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleWhenever an American icon property goes up for sale, lots of people get excited. In the case of this house, it’s mostly men! Although it might not be so surprising if a retired Bunny grabbed it for old times sake since many ex-Bunnies are now far wealthier due to the start that the Playboy brand gave them. This is the house, sometimes referred to as the Bunny Hutch, where Hugh Hefner housed a bevy of Bunnies and was the setting for The Girls Next Door TV hit.
When the first Playboy Club opened in 1960 in Hefner’s hometown of Chicago, girls from all over the world applied to be Bunnies when word spread that due to the popularity of the Chicago club, others would also be opening. They knew they would be safe within the confines of the stringent rules of the club and hey, . . . where else could they make so much money? At $10,000 a year, it was twice what teachers were making at the time!
Gloria Steinem made a name for herself as a feminist when she surreptitiously got hired as a Bunny at the New York club in order to glean background information to discredit the conditions of the job. The real Bunnies didn’t seem to buy into Gloria’s account and considered themselves darned fortunate and still do to this day! For any gal who still has that yearning, don’t be discouraged with the closing of U.S. based Playboy Clubs. There are still clubs in Macao and Cancun. With India’s new technology wealth, their first Playboy Club opened in December, 2012 with 120 projected future openings through 2022.
So the jury is out on who will buy the "Bunny Hutch" across the street from Hugh Hefner’s Holmby Hills estate and what will they do with it? Will they renovate the existing structure or tear it down to build another mega mansion? Though looking a little green around the gills, it has possibilities with its 5 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, wine cellar, aviary, grotto pool, sauna and pool house. Since a nearby empty lot of similar size recently sold in the neighborhood of $8 million, a buyer could go either way. If the buyer chooses to keep the house intact, it’s highly likely they’ll get to meet Candy Spelling who might stop by to shake their hand for preserving what she calls, "a neighborhood icon."
Across the street from Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion. The home was featured in the hit show The Girls Next Door. Priced at $11 million.
