Miami Chateau Castle & Moat!
Miami Chateau Castle & Moat!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleMiami, unlike so many Florida retirement areas, is much like a tropical New York with bustling international business and banking, wealth and more ways to display and enjoy it than northern cities. Filled with glamour, white sand beaches, fabulous nightlife and restaurants, it is one of the world’s favorite playgrounds, but also an important business connection to the Americas and beyond.
When it’s time to lock the corporate office doors for the night, Miami’s professionals head south of Miami to find quiet and enjoy family life. In the 1960s, peace and quiet were found closer to downtown Miami, such as the then artist colony of Coconut Grove. As the population expanded, South Miami and Kendall began expanding their neighborhoods. Then came Cutler Ridge along Biscayne Bay and finally the orchard and farmlands of the Redlands to the west of U.S. Highway 1. This is where notable Miami architect Charles Sieger chose to build his castle. But Charlie wasn’t satisfied with just the peace and quiet, he designed a wide moat around his castle and added a pair of attack swans.
Referred to by the owner as Chateau Artisan, the entire property is a study in perfect symmetry. Enter the 14-acre French Medieval-style enclave through a large iron gate that protects equally large wooden privacy gates. A long tree-lined drive appears and in the distance is a tall obelisk promising something out of the ordinary. Drawing closer to the castle, a bridge spans the moat and leads into a diamond shaped motor court accented by a center fountain.
The chateau-castle was built in 2007 and has 19,222 square feet of living space containing eight bedrooms, ten baths and is three-stories with an elevator. Both formal living and dining rooms have impressive two-story ceilings with the living room surrounded by the second-story balcony. There is also a media room, recreation room, a master bath with bidet, eat-in kitchen with breakfast room and a loft with many outdoor spaces for entertaining or enjoying a leisurely Sunday morning over the Miami Herald and coffee. A separate guest house is on the grounds of formal gardens reminiscent of medieval Roman ruins as well as a large koi pond. Accentuating the diamond shape of the moated enclosure are two gazebos jutting out into the water at either side inviting quiet reflection with panoramic views of this unique property.
