Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIt’s the latest thing in Man Toys for the wealthy. While so many of us are worrying about sap getting on the Jeep under the maple tree, Harrison Ford’s Honda NSX is on its way to safe storage on an elevator. For those who must drive the latest model or a valuable restored antique, your car is your most expensive investment after your house. For the wealthy, we’re talking multiple houses and valuable cars, so an elevator to protect these investments makes $55,000 seem like a small price to pay. Especially when we just told you about the million dollar garage in New York where the buyer will have to install his own lift if he wants to park only two cars! Besides, think of the dollars it will cost to build a 6-car garage in the style of your mansion, not to mention how much real estate it consumes. You’ll have a basement anyway, why not park in it? So now it’s starting to come together and make sense. Looking ahead, it probably won’t be too many years into the future when new tract houses will have one too.
Channel 10 News in San Diego took a fun tour of the exterior of Mitt Romney’s recently purchased beach house and interviewed Brad Davies who designed the Phantom Park car elevator. This is the same elevator that Romney plans on installing once he bulldozes the existing 3,000sf house and builds his 11,000sf mansion. The new elevator will lower cars into the 3,600sf basement-garage below. Romney isn’t the only one interested in a car elevator. Davies has already sold to Harrison Ford, Britney Spears, a number in Canada and other parts of the world including London and New Zealand. Check out the cool video on the link below. They also report that Romney has his beach house project on hold until after the election since he’ll be a wee bit busy until then.
