From 2008 to 2010 they stayed at the Plantation Estate and for the last two years have also stayed at a luxury Paradise Point home a few houses from their previous rental.

The $24,500 per week Plantation Estate was not available for the Obama's 2011 Christmas vacation, so the First Family stayed in a similar home just a few hundred yards away. There is also a U.S. Marine Corps base nearby where President Obama likes to work out and where he plays golf at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course, an 18-hole championship golf course.

The Plantation Estate last sold at a bargain price in July 2010 for $6.9 million, after previously selling in January 2008 for $9 million.

Though President Obama only had a few days to spend with his family before returning to Washington on December 26th, Mrs. Obama and the girls are staying in Hawaii in the event of the President’s possible return around January 1st.
