Consistently ranked as an industry leader, Marc-Michaels Interior Design, Inc. has been providing highly acclaimed interior design and merchandising services for over 20 years. Also commissioned internationally, they have designed high-end luxury residential towers in the Middle East and private residences throughout the world including Thailand, Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, and Belgium.
When it came time to design a home of their own, they knew they wanted it to be on the water, a culmination of their many years in the design field. Winter Haven, Florida is in the midst of Florida lake country but it was hard to find lakefront land that wasn’t already taken. Finally, they found a long but very narrow piece of land that opened onto the eastern shore of Lake Osceola. It was a perfect location; a short walk to the upscale Winter Park shopping district and five miles from downtown Orlando with easy access to local art and antique districts, dining and cultural attractions. Due to a bald eagle’s nest that had been there for years, they named the estate Palazzo delle Aquile (Italian for "Palace of the Eagles").
The Palazzo delle Aquile result was a magnificent home with Venetian-Gothic inspired architecture that is present throughout the interior spaces and exterior elevations of the home designed around a center courtyard. At 10,307 square feet and two stories, the home, completed in June of 2000, has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two living rooms both casual and formal, two dining rooms, vaulted ceilings, family room, gourmet eat-in kitchen, fireplace and large walk-in closets and views of the lake from the different levels of house and terraces. Gated both at the entrance and on the lakeside, both front and back have mature landscaping with a four-car garage. The year after it was completed, Architectural Digest featured the home in their September 2001 issue with eight pages of photographs. For more information.
