The master planned-community of Rancho Santa Fe has long been one of Southern California’s wealthiest enclaves. Located 25 miles north of San Diego, it got its start when the Santa Fe Railroad purchased the original land grant with the idea of planting eucalyptus trees to provide railroad ties.
