Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleAnd she’s not alone. Before the real estate crunch, a number of celebrities were buying, restoring, decorating and reselling fabulous homes as a hobby and for something productive to do between films. Some have been successful and others have taken a whopping. One of the really savvy ones is Ellen DeGeneres, who when the market was at its worst, was out there making profit over profit. Others like Sharon Stone have lost money as evidenced by her recent sale of half the asking price and a $4.5 million loss from her original purchase price plus taxes and maintenance expense over six years.
Sharon bought this 7 bedroom, 8.5 bath home in 2006 for $10.995 million after completing the film Basic Instinct 2. When it became apparent that this film was going to be a no-go in box office sales, Sharon put it right back on the market. She has never lived there and the home has been uninhabited for the years of her ownership. This year it was finally sold to widowed movie producer Lili Zanuck.
The real charm of the property is in the grounds. Sited on almost five acres at the end of a private road, the house was built in 1991 and the landscape is now mature with paths, pools and waterfalls through cultivated jungle. Vines soften the stucco walls giving it the sought after Old World Mediterranean feel. The interior will be all about the decorator. Though open, airy and very spacious, architectural standout features are the great expanses of glass and a vanishing threshold that allow for uninterrupted views of the lush grounds. There is plenty of space for entertaining on a large scale and the covered parking area can accommodate as many as 14 vehicles. Guests will also enjoy the large pool, spa and tennis court with its covered viewing area.
