Considered to be one of the sexiest and toughest leading men in film history, Steve McQueen is remembered for so many roles in top box office films such as "The Magnificent Seven," "Bullitt," "Papillon" and so many others. But what made him so tough and sexy?

Steve had a rough childhood. Abandoned by his mother at age three, he was left with his grandparents who were loving, but also facing the problems of raising a toddler at the start of the Great Depression. They were forced to move in with Steve’s great uncle, from whom Steve said he learned a lot and greatly admired. But no sooner had life stabilized for Steve than his mother reappeared to take him to live with her and her new husband. The new husband beat both him and his mother, including throwing Steve down a flight of stairs. At that point, the stepfather demanded that Steve be put in a reform school at his age of 14. By age 16, he was released and sent back to his grandparents. From joining a circus to enlisting in the Marines, Steve’s life evolved. After separating from the Marines, he used the GI Bill to study acting and the rest is history. He had survived life’s hard knocks with a laid back attitude and beautiful mystery eyes, making Steve appear very sexy to women of all ages. Steve died of asbestos-related cancer shortly after marrying his third wife in 1980 at the age of 50.
