Texas Belvedere Mansion!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleCentral Texas native Malcolm Reed followed his father into business and ultimately became a leading cotton exporter. He wed Margaret "Maggie" Badger of Marble Falls in 1898 and they moved to Austin in 1908. In 1929, they built and moved into their new home in Pemberton Heights. The home retains much of its original Italian Renaissance design, including a low-pitch hip roof, brackets, recessed porch and elaborate detailing. The home remained in the Reed family, passing on to daughter Margaret and her husband Joseph Cocke, where they lived until 1990 and is a recorded Texas Historic Landmark. The Reed Estate has been the site of many elite functions throughout the years, fun-filled family occasions including picnics on the sprawling lawns and was home to one of Austin’s first charity fundraisers, the 1940’s Doll Buggy Parade. The jewel of the grounds is the remarkable Belvedere set at the back of a huge koi pond, a replica of the original at the Petit Trianon at Versailles.
After purchasing the property in 2004 the current owners did extensive renovations to almost every room in the house as well as upgrades and improvements to all of the electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. For more information.
Now for sale, the Austin landmark property is offered at $19.5 million.
