Texas Oil Money!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleFortified with a college degree in geological engineering, Gene Van Dyke wasn’t interested in a nice steady job. At a time when society was all about post war comforts and conventional thinking, Van Dyke set out with a vision and the entrepreneurial spirit to explore for new oil fields. He began in 1951 as an independent producer based out of Wichita Falls. From 1958 to 1962, he worked the Texas coast, then went to explore southern Louisiana, discovering the important West Lake Arthur Field in 1968. In 1973, he began devoting all his exploration to international offshore in the North Atlantic with significant oil and gas discoveries off The Netherlands. Never idle, in 1996 his lust for adventure took him south to a new frontier, deepwater West Africa. Within three years, his company became a leading license holder offshore of eight African countries. In 1999, the Houston Geological Society named Gene Van Dyke a "Living Legend in Wildcatting."
