The Baseball Agent's $15 Million Home!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleIn today’s world of mega-million dollar player contracts and commercial endorsement deals, baseball agents are frequently celebrities themselves. The movie Jerry Maguire brought player management into the spotlight for sports fans. It taught us about a field that runs the gamut from triumph to despair - sometimes with overwhelming speed. It also taught us that it takes an individual with nerves of steel and a talent for maintaining balance to pull it off.
Jeff Moorad is just such a man. After achieving a degree in sports law in 1981 from Villanova University, Jeff began specializing in athlete representation in 1983, with his main focus on Major League Baseball. In 1985, he and Leigh Steinberg formed Steinberg & Moorad, which became the most successful partnership in the history of sports representation. Clients included Manny Ramirez, Will Clark and Shawn Green. In 1999, they sold the company to Assante Sports Management Group for an estimated $120 million.
When filmmakers needed technical consultants on sports films, Jeff Moorad was a natural. His technical skill was used in For Love of the Game in which he also had a cameo part. Both he and ex-partner Steinberg consulted on and appeared in the film Jerry Maguire.
Jeff didn’t stop with repping the best players in major league baseball and movie roles. He went on to become chief executive of the San Diego Padres and minority owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Today he has controlling interest in the Hall of Fame NASCAR Racing Team.
The Moorads’ 16,153 square foot estate sits on 5 acres in the heart of Phoenix’s most desired location, Paradise Valley. The 8 bedroom, 11 bath home was purchased by the Moorads while still under construction, making it possible for the couple to bring in the finest materials from around the world. With too many interior amenities to list, the exterior has resort-style gardens and a guest house and a plethora of activities available with separate basketball and tennis courts along with a swimming pool. An unusual and enviable feature of the home is that it is built on one level with no interior steps.
Jeff Moorad’s Paradise Valley estate was $28 million – now $15 million.
