Whitney’s New Jersey Home!
Whitney's New Jersey Home!
Private, gated and rural, this attractive contemporary home is only 40 miles from the center of Manhattan in Mendham Township and sits on 5 lush, wooded acres. This is the home Whitney and Bobby Brown lived in back in 2005 and was where their reality show Being Bobby Brown was filmed during a time of marriage turmoil. Then in 2009, it was put on the market for the first time at $2.5m. It languished there lazily, not selling, until it was decided to take it off. Later, back it came, this time at $1.75m, reflecting the downward turn in today's real estate market. Though not on the MLS, it is somewhat obscurely listed for sale on a website about home car garages. With beautiful Whitney's sad, untimely death, the fact that the house is for sale has surfaced.
We love the privacy and the acreage and that it's gated. According to carproperty.com, it has a four car garage and plenty of space to park 15 more cars, making it perfect for large gatherings of family and friends. Perfect for children, there's enough land for them to run and play, building forts and tree house "clubs" and just be kids while also being safe. Do we ever say, "Go out and play" anymore? We should! This yard alone should cut back on the Ritalin and behavior problems of today's children, not to mention space to run off a sugar "high!"
Built in 1992, the house itself is an eye-catching contemporary with an attractive wide stone walk leading up to the entry. Immediately one is taken by the rounded glass walls and clean lines of the structure. Inside, the glass walls translate into rooms awash with cheerful sunlight and views over the forested property. Within the 12,561sf, are 5 bedrooms and 5 baths with a large kitchen that has one of the several large domed skylights also found in other rooms. It's a cheerful house, great for entertaining and large enough to house a large family and stay-over guests.
It's not listed on the MLS, so we aren't positive that it's up for sale since it has been on and off the market for years, however it peaked our curiosity so we wanted to share.
