The LA Times reports that Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, have listed their two West Hollywood condos. Located in The Sierra Towers, the building has always been cram-packed with celebrity owners/residents both current and past such as Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, Joan Collins, Diahann Carroll, Lindsay Lohan, Cher and a passel of others.

Opening in 1966 as apartments then going condo in 1975, the mid-century building was designed by Jack A. Charney, who positioned it to take full advantage of ocean, city and mountain views. At the time, it was the tallest building in LA. Interestingly, Hollywood didn’t want a high rise since neighborhood homeowners claimed it was disrupting their views. So the county annexed the unincorporated land, and that solved the logistics problem.

From the very beginning it was a star magnet. Frank Sinatra wanted one for his mother, and Eddie Fisher’s daughters wanted him to live there. Even today it houses two stars, Joan Collins and Diahann Carroll who battled in Dynasty but live at Sierra Towers in harmony and peace. Units range in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms over 26 residential floors with only 6 units to a floor. It is said that Cher is the only one so far who has combined her units into a two-story home. The building has a heated pool on the 6th floor, his and her lockers and spas, a gym and 24-hour security.

Elton John’s two units are each 1 bedroom and 1.5 baths with one unit at 1,151sf and the other at 1,831sf. The couple has recently purchased a 4,200sf home in Beverly Hills with 4 bedrooms, 5.5 baths on an acre, giving them more space to raise their son, Zachary.

Elton John lists West Hollywood condos for $1.6m and $3.5m.
