The Lake Tahoe area has been a popular backdrop for many television and movie productions. The Ponderosa Ranch home for the NBC-TV Cartwright family in Bonanza was filmed on the Nevada side of the lake. Henry J. Kaiser's Fleur du Lac summer place on the California side was the Michael Corleone family compound in The Godfather Part II and whereFredo Corleone took his ill-fated fishing trip. Most of the Godfather estate has been torn down and replaced by million-dollar homes.

The 7,000 square foot main house has 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, an indoor pool and art-display walls, a game room, two offices and an elevator. The conference center has a boardroom that seats 12 and a library. There is also a 50,000-watt gas generator in case of a power outage.
