Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleWhen we think of a weekend getaway, we usually think of hitching up the fold-out camper and taking off to the local river for some fishing and a campfire, or those who prefer a little more glitz might take a Friday night redeye to the sweet little Las Vegas condo they picked up for a lark during the real estate crunch. But when you rank #330 on Forbes wealthiest men in the world in 2012, maybe you spend your weekends a little differently.
Paul Tudor Jones ll, known for his hedge fund expertise and founder of the Tudor Group, weekends on a grand scale on his 6,250 acre hunting and equestrian estate on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. A strong supporter of natural resource conservation, he also serves as Chairman of The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Fitting then that he should put some of his $3.3 billion towards optimizing nature while luxuriating in the elegant rusticity of his massive lodge. It must make Jones proud to talk about how he’s conserving the land around him while he sips 2002 Dom Perignon with his hunting buddies.
Considered to be possibly the most magnificent sport estate in the country, Tudor Farms was built in 1990 with main lodge, guest house, large horse stable and even larger indoor riding arena. The main lodge measures 14,000 square feet with 11 bedrooms, 11 baths, rooms for gathering, games and indoor sports courts. Fishing and hunting begins practically at the front door and goes on forever.
But why sell such a magnificent retreat when you’re only 59 with so many years left for enjoyment? According to The Economist in a December 2012 article, hedge funds are "going nowhere. . . with another lousy year, to cap a disappointing decade." So with his almost clairvoyant ability to see the future, is Jones seeing something we’re not?
Hunting lodge plus indoor tennis, racetrack, riding ring, 11 bedrooms, 10.5 baths, 6,250 acres. Priced at $30 million.
