T. Boone Pickens' Dallas Mansion!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleAnyone who isn’t familiar with the name T. Boone Pickens would have to live off grid on a desert island and live under a rock! Even children were likely fascinated by his TV commercials for wind power while they watched acres of white whirligigs spinning for as far as the eye could see. At age 84, this oil, hedge fund and takeover expert is still quite forward thinking and is yet passionate over ways to deal with the future of energy production and new personal profit streams. A year ago Forbes ranked him as the 328th most wealthy American with an approximate $1.4 billion net worth.
Naturally we always want to know how those with high wealth statistics live, and as a special treat for potential buyers and fantasy gawkers alike, T. Boone and fourth wife, Madeleine (widow of Allen E. Paulson - Gulfstream Aerospace), have put their Dallas Preston Hollow home up for sale. Surprisingly modest in size for a billionaire, we were delighted to see a respectably sized mini mansion on a respectably sized one acre. Of course every square inch is like living inside a tasteful jewel box, but it certainly isn’t the gaudy, massive, "Look at me and be impressed with all the money you think I have," over-the-top monstrosity on 200 acres.
Built in 1996 and purchased by the Pickens in 2005, the 8,215 square foot home originally had 4 bedrooms. However, with a massive redo, two of the ground floor bedrooms were turned into a large and ever so luxurious master suite with a dressing room so huge it not only has a center island but also a sitting area. The master bath is so grand it has a seating area and a writing desk with a lot of space left over. Of course the rest of the French-styled house and gardens have the best materials available with hand forged iron details, exceptional decor, 3 bedrooms, 7 baths, an elegant old world library, and unmatched gardens with artfully designed outdoor entertainment areas. The pool and 500 square foot cabana are placed within another formal French garden and staff quarters are also available. The size and understated opulence of the property are not daunting as are so many, but instead are scaled to make both owners and guests feel warm and welcome.
Putting Versailles to shame, the T. Boone Pickens’ impeccable French-style Dallas estate is priced at $7 million.
