Tom Cruise's Colorado Compound!
Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleNow in his fourth decade in the movie business, Tom Cruise is near the top of Hollywood's power structure as an actor, producer and celebrity. His films have grossed almost $8 billion worldwide. He has been nominated for three Oscars, is a three-time Golden Globe winner, and was listed as number one in the World’s Most Powerful Stars in 2006 by Forbes.
Tom was born in 1962 in Syracuse, New York to an electrical engineer father and special education teacher and part-time actress mother. His childhood was nomadic due to his father's job changes and Tom's occasional dyslexia problems. He went to 15 schools in New York, Canada, Kentucky, Virginia and a brief time at a Catholic seminary in Ohio. Tom was a good athlete but was kicked off his high school’s football team for drinking beer and a promising wrestling career was cut short by a knee injury.
Cruise began his acting career at age 16 with the lead role in his high school's production of Guys and Dolls, and got his first movie role at age 19 in Endless Love with Brooke Shields. By 1983, Cruise was a star with his roles in The Outsiders, All the Right Moves and Risky Business. He soon became a superstar in Top Gun, The Color of Money, Days of Thunder and Rain Man. Tom added the job of movie producer to his resume with his roles as Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible series. Tom might be even more popular outside the United States where even his mediocre U.S. movies have had triple box office sales. Tom was in Japan on October 6th for their National Tom Cruise Day. Tom also ranks near the top for popular paparazzi targets. His marriages to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes and support for the Church of Scientology have sold numerous gossip magazines.
Between constant travel to promote his films both in the U.S. and overseas and now working on the fifth in his Mission: Impossible series, Cruise has decided to sell his 298-acre estate in Telluride, Colorado. This is the home where Cruise has vacationed with his children; where he spent time with Katie Holmes during her pregnancy with his daughter, Suri, and where his second major interview with Oprah took place. Cruise helped design the 10,000-square-foot stone and cedar home, which was completed in 1994. The main house has four bedrooms, a gym, recreation room and library. The guest house has an additional three bedrooms, giving the property a total of seven bedrooms and nine full baths. Outside is a sports court for tennis, basketball or ice hockey and a private trail system with access to and views of the 14,000-foot mountains in the distance with a private gate into the Uncompahgre National Forest. There are hiking and riding trails which thread throughout the 298 acres.
Located minutes to one of the world’s most famous ski resorts, the ranch is only a 12-minute drive to downtown Telluride and only 10 minutes to the Telluride Regional Airport. Telluride is a popular celebrity ski town where Tom married Nicole Kidman in 1990. Jerry Seinfeld and Ralph Lauren also have homes in Telluride. For more information.
