The Record Collector, LA’s oldest record store and the two-storefronts building where it is located in the Melrose Arts District are for sale. After 60 years, the store, stocked with 500,000 records, is listed at $4.995 million. World famous for its one-of-a-kind collection, its clientele included fans such as Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Lee Strasberg and Bette Midler. Michael said it was his “favorite record store,” and Sinatra bought their classical albums over the phone.
