The General James Taylor Mansion in Newport, Kentucky is a grand 1830’s estate near the Ohio River. The home is known as Belle Vue, which means “beautiful view,” and is currently for sale at $2.5 million. General Taylor owned as many as 50 slaves when he died in 1848, but after he died, the mansion was used as a safe house for escaping slaves on the Underground Railroad.
