Ritzy Connecticut Town Buys An Island

While many U.S. towns are barely getting by these days, one Connecticut town is so rich that it is spending $85 million to buy its own private island. Darien, Connecticut is buying nearby Great Island, which includes one of the area’s last Gilded Age mansions with 10 bedrooms, equestrian facilities, several sandy beaches, and a deep-water dock that can accommodate a 100-foot yacht.
