Must SeeTop 10 Florida Condos For SaleHad Frank Lloyd Wright lived and worked into the 21st Century, this is what he would have built. Of course by now he would have a team of engineers to solidify his designs and would probably be disappointed that families no longer come together around a central fireplace to talk about their day each evening. But he would have learned the new technologies that would have improved the quality of life indoors and would have likely been a forerunner incorporating them into his designs. In this case he would have been struck by the forested and creek views from this site that appeared to go on forever - right in the city of Dallas. The architectural design firm of Oglebsy-Greene, winners of the 2010 AIA Interior Architecture Design Award, approached this raw land in the same manner as Mr. Wright, proving that Mr. Wright’s approach to making the interface between home and nature practically seamless, was one of his greatest gifts to the future.
Architect Graham Greene first sited the home by determining the main axis of the solar path so that it would be filled with natural light and that the many glass walls and terraces would be positioned so the owner would never be aware of the existence of neighbors. The one acre lot in the north Dallas neighborhood of Glen Abbey, has a continuous view across the wide creek into protected forest on the other side that would be optimized in the design. The end result? Like living in your own national park with woods, gushing waterfall, infinity pool that feels like a lake in the woods and the best place of all for a harried executive to immediately unwind and for the children to play out their Robinson Crusoe adventures.
At 11,000 square feet, the open contemporary has 23-foot glass walls with endless woods and water views, five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a true Chef’s kitchen with two SubZero refrigerators, freezer and icemaker, two Miele Excella integrated dishwashers, and enough Gaggenau cook surfaces and ovens in styles to cook anything imaginable. There are his-and-hers offices, a library that turns into a media room at the touch of a button, advanced Lutron systems and exceptional security. Designed to entertain large groups to intimate dinners indoors or on one of the numerous terraces. A four-story winding stairway begins in the wine cellar, gives views of all floors and ends at the rooftop terrace. Finishes are exceptional with gold granite, black onyx, Douglas fir and Lueders stone. For more information.
